Hi, I'm Pat James, or 2PJZ, from Melbourne, Australia. My brand revolves around my passion for cars and creating high energy, valuable and technical content to make the car scene a better place. I've owned 27+ cars, and driven more than I could ever count, and via my content I take you on my automotive journey and show you what it's really like to do this new age automotive journalism/content creation venture.

2PJZ Debrief - Edition 4
Hello Reader,
Welcome to Edition 4 of 2PJZ Debrief!
No matter why you’re here, my goal is simple: to make sure you walk away with something valuable.
A warm welcome to all the new subscribers who found me via my first-ever free product - an email template for finding your dream job in the motorsport industry. More on this below.
Let’s get stuck in.
Quick Catch-Up
My favourite pieces of content from the past fortnight.
YouTube: We took a TINY convertible to where it shouldn't go...
Instagram: This is EXACTLY how I grew FAST - and how you can too.
The best way to support what I do, at no cost, is to head over and subscribe to my YT. My stretch goal is 50k followers by EOY, and I'm currently at 4.8k. I'm confident we'll get there, but I need your help!
Behind the Camera:
The past couple of weeks have been absolutely hectic, but one of the most exciting and meaningful fortnights of my content and business journey so far.
Currently, I'm about to start Day 3 of the Targa Classica. If you're not sure what it is, Targa Classica is Australia’s premier historic motoring tour, celebrating classic cars with a multi-day driving experience through stunning Victorian landscapes.
Combining scenic roads, motorsport heritage, and a passion for timeless machines, it’s the ultimate event for classic car enthusiasts who love to drive. When I was invited to partner for the event by James and the team, how could I say no!
And for the event - I partnered with BMW Australia who threw me the keys to an M3 Touring. If you told me even three months ago this would be happening, I wouldn't believe it.
Since Wednesday, 26 Feb, a few notable and fun things have happened:
I was invited to my first car launch - unveiling the new Aston Martin Vanquish. As a big James Bond 'Die Another Day' fan, this was a 'pinch me' moment.
Spent some time with Porsche Club Victoria, which was a great sign that I'm heading in the right direction. Being invited to a private club event - even though I don't own a Porsche - was pretty cool.
Partnered with Wristwatch Check to promote their annual event, which will be held this Saturday after the Australian F1 GP Qualifying. Get tickets here! I'm also running a giveaway, but you must be in Melbourne on 15 March to qualify. Enter here.
Worked on more collaborations and partnerships to come throughout the remainder of March and April.
Stayed consistent with my gym routine, daily posting habits, and business development.
Yeah - a lot has happened in a few weeks! I love being busy, and probably enjoy the stress and pressure of deadlines and multiple priorities a little too much.
All these partnerships and actually turning 2PJZ into a real, legitimate business has taken all of my energy. I've had many periods of total burnout - wanting to quit and feeling exhausted. However, when good things start happening, I realise why I love this so much.
I got this message from a follower last Wednesday while at the gym. I'm thankful to receive heaps of DMs every day, and I wanted to share this with you. This is why I do it.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to send some thoughts through to my DMs!
The months and countless hours of grinding and hard work are finally starting to pay off, and I couldn't be happier.
If you follow my content daily, I'm sure you've seen most of this in real-time, but I get that you're busy - so those are my highlights in case you missed them.
The name's James, Pat James.
Lessons and Learnings:
One thing that stuck with me this fortnight:
"Most people overestimate what they can do in a day and underestimate what they can do in a year."– Bill Gates
I’m not sharing my achievements to flex – I’m sharing them to show you what’s possible when you back yourself.
There’s nothing special about me.
I don’t have a secret formula, a trust fund, or an easy path.
My only unfair advantage is my dogged determination and self-belief.
My passion for cars, motorsport, and the automotive industry runs so deep that I couldn’t let my circumstances define me. Since I left my motorsport job in October, I’ve had every excuse to slow down - but instead, I made a choice: to maximise every single day, grow 2PJZ, build my skills, and provide as much value as possible.. I don’t make a full-time income from this yet, but I know that consistency wins.
The lesson? You don’t need to have it all figured out – you just need to start.
If you feel overwhelmed, focus on what you can do today.
Success isn’t about talent or luck – it’s about showing up, even when it’s hard.
Next week, I start full-time work again, but nothing changes – I’ll still be grinding because I believe in this. My focus is to be doing this full-time, but for now I need to pay my mortgage and rent.
If you believe in something, chase it relentlessly. The only way to fail is to stop.
Where My Head Is
Last week, I talked about monetisation, and I finally took my first official step beyond just posting more business-related content – I uploaded a free email template. I could have charged for it, and honestly, it’s so value-packed that I probably should have. But at the end of the day, I’m not doing this just to make a quick buck – I’m doing it to make the community a better place.
My vision is to create a space where I can help people achieve what I’ve done – landing their dream jobs, whether that’s in the automotive sector, content creation, or motorsport. There’s a lot more coming in April and May, but just know that I'm working hard BTS.
That said, I want to be fully transparent – there will be paid products, but they’ll be affordable, practical, and packed with even more value than what I’m already offering for free. I’m not here to peddle some low-effort course that just lines my pockets. Instead, I’m working on physical and digital products that actually help people in different ways:
If you want to break into automotive, content creation, or motorsport, I won’t just sell you a course – I’m building something much more in-depth, with real, regular touchpoints with me.
If you just love cars and want to support and represent what I do, I’ll be creating a premium product that reflects that passion.
If you’re after exclusive content, behind-the-scenes access, and a way to ask me direct questions, I’m exploring a Patreon-style subscription.
And if you just enjoy my content and don’t want to buy anything – that’s completely fine. Having you here means the world to me.
At the end of the day, daily car videos won’t pay my mortgage, but I want to make sure whatever I create is genuinely worth it for you.
And if we do this right, it means bigger and better content, more access, and hopefully, me in some even cooler cars.
Spread the Word!
If something stood out to you from this edition, send it to a friend or share to your Instagram story. I want to reach as many people as possible who will find this valuable, and the only way that will happen is with your help.
Do you have feedback or questions? Hit reply.
Looking for help with brand building, motorsport communications strategies, or content creation? I’m planning to open up consultation time -shoot me a message if you’re interested.
Sharing my love for cars and the stories that define them.
