2PJZ Debrief - Edition 7
Hey Reader,
Welcome to Edition 7 of 2PJZ Debrief – landing in your inbox a little later than usual.
I normally prep this on Monday, polish it on Tuesday, and send it out Wednesday morning. This week? It’s Friday.
Not because I forgot. But because life has been chaotic.
Between full-time work, daily content commitments for 2PJZ, moving house, editing videos, packing boxes, selling my car and trying not to fully burn out, this week got the better of me.
But I’m here. You’re here. Let’s catch up.
Quick Catch-Up
My favourite pieces of content from the past fortnight and what's happening.
🎥 YouTube: Coming soon – What it’s like to live with a $700,000 Aston Martin DB12 Volante as a normal person. I filmed this one during a mental week… and now I’m finishing the edit between packing boxes for the move.
Instagram: Can new cars make you feel how old ones do? I made a 'short-long-form' video for Instagram. These are the sorts of videos I'd love to be doing more regularly, but for my goals of growth, it's a balancing act between these and more 'algorithm-friendly' content.
Loan Cars: In the past fortnight, I’ve driven the Audi RS7 and RS6. The RS6 has been a dream car of mine since the C7 launched, and getting to live with one has only made me hungrier to make it mine one day.
📦 Moving: Erin and I are moving next week. The new place means a dedicated 2PJZ studio space and a double garage! — something I’ve wanted for a long time. Can’t wait to make it mine.
Behind the Camera:
Since launching the Japan Playbook, everything else has taken a back seat.
Launching this product from scratch in three days took a lot.
For the first-time ever I had to build:
The product itself,
all the landing pages, product info and backend,
email automations and rules, as well as marketing campaigns,
social media marketing campaigns,
customer service protocols,
and more
All within a few days, with no idea what I was doing.
It was a thrill, and it's somehow worked out. The response from people who've downloaded my guides has been amazing. If you're one of them, thank you.
Seeing a stream of only five-star reviews is a dream.
I gave 100% to both the free and paid versions — and it flipped my schedule upside down.
The free Notion guide passed 1,000 downloads in the first week. The paid guide is also picking up — not viral overnight, but solid, steady sales proving people find value.
If you’ve downloaded either, thank you. It means a lot.
This project wasn’t just another content piece — it was my first digital product, and I went all in.
A few snaps from Japan.
Lessons and Learnings:
I’m now just over a month into my new full-time job, and while I’m enjoying it, the balance is rough.
Trying to keep the same pace I had while fully self-employed has been a massive uphill battle.
At the moment, I'm essentially working two full-time jobs between my 9-5 and 2PJZ, and I love the hustle. But at the end of the day, I'm still human.
I’ve felt the edge of burnout creeping in… and the only thing that saved me was going back to basics.
The 7 Ps: Prior Preparation and Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
I spoke about the 7 Ps in Edition 1 of the newsletter - OG's know!
I started organising my content calendar again. Got strict with time blocks. And I’m slowly taking control back.
My April Notion content calendar is packed.
Because honestly, every single hour of every day, I’m thinking about this. How can I make it better? What do I need to improve? What can I do to grow this into a full-time thing with real income?
If you're feeling like you're losing control in aspects of your life, the best advice I can give you is what I just wrote about.
Strip it back to basics, control the controllables and block out unnecessary noise.
Where My Head Is
Yesterday, my Toyota Chaser was sold at auction with Collecting Cars.
It went for a bit less than I was hoping — I ran a strong campaign and had a great response, but it just fell short at the finish line.
Still, it wasn’t far off what I expected, and overall, the process was fun.
After buying and selling 27 cars, it felt weird not to be in control, but I’m glad I tried something new.
It’s also made the gap to my next car a little bigger… but if I’ve learnt one thing from what I do here, it's that anything’s possible with consistent work and patience.
More to come on my new car soon enough... 👀
