This is real-life when you're doing what I'm doing solo. Moving house has been insane with my 2PJZ commitments and full-time work, but I'm stoked to bring you Edition 8 of the newsletter!

Quick Catch-Up

My favourite pieces of content from the past fortnight and what's happening.

• 🎥 YouTube: What it's like to live with a $700,000 Aston Martin as a normal person
• Instagram: Daily posting is still rolling! Had a lot of fun with the RS6 while we had that and made a few vids, seeing as it's my dream daily.
• Loan Cars: These last couple of weeks I've had a Toyota GR Corolla, in both manual and auto. Wicked little car, but is it really worth $75,000?
• 📦 Moving: Erin and I are moved this week. We're excited as, but it's cooked us, and it's almost done. I'll need some advice on how to set up my garage and studio!

Behind the Camera:

Life has been full-on these last few weeks. Moving house, work, life, 2PJZ, gym and trying to keep my head above water has been tough.

I've been working on a very cool project with BMW Australia to celebrate 50 Years of the BMW 3 Series, which has taken most of my time. If you've felt like my short-form content has been slipping recently, between my focus on the move and my project with BMW, that'll be why.

I haven't shared this on my socials yet. One way I can say thanks to you for signing up to this newsletter is by giving you the scoop on cool developments like this.

This will mark my first-ever project with a manufacturer I adore. It's a massive step forward for me.

This film is a full-blown documentary, created by me and filmed by my good mate Sam from Laag Media about the 3 Series. It'll come out likely sometime in June, once I come up for air. It's going to be the most highly produced bit of content I've ever made and I can't wait to share it.

Lessons and Learnings:

It's been a couple of weeks now since I launched both the Japan Car Culture Starter Guide and the Japan Playbook.

I’m not here to hard sell you on it.

If you’re one of the 1,300+ people who downloaded the free guide, then you already know how valuable it is. And if you’ve purchased the full Playbook — thank you. The response has been incredible.

Seeing a stream of five-star reviews has been surreal.

Creating this has been my biggest challenge since I relaunched 2PJZ last year. Not just making it — but marketing, launching, answering questions, tweaking, improving, repeating.

I love this process. I love learning. And it’s why I want to do this full-time, as soon as I can.

Also — 100% of profits from the Playbook are going toward a very specific goal: buying a DC2R in Japan, creating content with it, and eventually shipping it home. Of course, I'll be trying to show you how to do it.

2PJZ doesn’t pay me much yet — which is why I’m still in a full-time 9–5. But everything I earn goes straight back into building this thing bigger.

So, if you're on the fence about buying the Japan guide, I can tell you it's worth it 'til the cows come home, but now you know what the proceeds are going towards.

Because I had the best time in Japan. And the whole reason I made this? So you can too.

Where My Head Is

This newsletter is my place to be real with you. To show you what the real story is behind everything you see online and to give some perspective into what it's like to be a creator in the automotive space, while juggling real life.

The honest truth is that I’ve been feeling pretty flat lately.

The momentum I felt when I was all-in on 2PJZ for five months — making content daily, building the business — has slowed. Views are down. The minimal income I was making has dipped. Growth feels stalled.

It’s like slamming into emotional concrete.

Honestly? It feels like I’ve gone backwards to July last year, a point at which I vividly remember almost quitting. But thank God I didn't. Shortly after July, the page had it's first takeoff period, and it's something I've been reflecting on a lot recently.

When your goals are big - like selling enough Playbooks to buy a Honda Integra DC2 Type R in Japan, or hitting $10k+/month - it’s easy to feel like you’re failing when things go quiet.

But I’ve been reminding myself of this:

Quiet doesn’t mean failure. It means I’m between waves.

Because the facts are:
– The Japan Playbook exists - and people love it
– I’ve built genuine brand partnerships with BMW, Toyota and Audi, and more.​
– I’ve grown from 0 to 115k+ combined followers in under a year
– The systems, the audience, the vision - none of that is lost

What I’m feeling right now isn’t a sign to quit - it’s a sign to rest. And that is something I don't really know how to do, but I need to take the hint.

This is fatigue, not failure.
I’ve been sprinting for months. Now it’s time to slow down, reset, and build smarter.

So if you’ve been feeling stuck too - you’re not alone.
We’re just in the messy middle.
The next wave is coming.
